- Family Travel Packing Tips: Perfect for Any Vacation, from Theme Parks to Tropical Getaways
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of family trips - from magical Disney days to muddy hikes in Hawaii - it’s that packing smart makes all the difference. You don’t have to be the mom hauling five bags through the airport. You just need a system that works, whether you’re sneaking onto a budget airline with a backpack or checking bags for a big family adventure. Here’s my family travel packing tips so you can pack like a pro, without losing your mind. Family Travel Packing Tips Plan Your Outfits Intentionally The biggest packing mistake? Throwing in random clothes you might wear. I plan outfits by day based on what we’re actually doing and weather. I try to also choose clothes that can mix, match, and layer. It saves space, cuts down decision-making, and keeps me from ending up with four pairs of jeans and no pajamas. Packing Cubes Are Non-Negotiable Packing cubes are the real MVP. I use one cube per kid or per category - pajamas, daytime outfits, etc. - to keep everything organized and easy to grab without wrecking the whole suitcase. How I Pack My Personal Bag I always tuck a small crossbody bag inside my backpack that holds my in-flight must-haves: hand sanitizer, gum, AirPods, and lip balm. For long flights, I throw in a little self-care bag with face moisturizer, a toothbrush, and an eye mask.If my kids are traveling with me, their electronics and headphones go in their bags - and they can’t touch them until we’re in the air. It saves battery, prevents lost items, and keeps the chaos low. Carry-On Suitcase Tips for Family Trips For longer trips - like a full week in Hawaii - we either do one carry-on suitcase per person or one checked bag for the entire family. Everyone carries their own small suitcase and we share a backpack for snacks, tech, and essentials. My go-to carry-on suitcase is lightweight, durable, and has smooth 360-degree wheels that make airport life way easier. Budget Airline Packing: Pack Like its Tetris Flying budget airlines like Spirit, Frontier, or Allegiant? Your personal item bag is your only option for luggage. I use this under seat luggage that fits a few rolled outfits, a lightweight jacket, snacks, and essentials. A Few Essentials I Never Skip: Rewear shoes. I stick to flip flops, sneakers, and one pair of dressier shoes — no exceptions. Always pack sunscreen, a stain remover pen, a reusable water bottle, and a mini first aid kit. Whether you’re heading out on a quick weekend getaway or a full family adventure, packing smart makes every trip smoother. What are your packing hacks?
- Christmas in NYC with Kids: Best Family-Friendly Activities & Tips (2025)
Christmas in New York City is truly magical, transforming the city into a winter wonderland with sparkling lights, festive decorations, and holiday cheer at every turn. As a parent who loves Christmas (one of my all-time favorite holiday movies is Home Alone 2: Lost in New York ), I was beyond excited to take our toddler to experience the magic of NYC during the holidays. While staying at The Plaza and eating pizza in a limo remain on my bucket list, we still managed to visit many iconic spots from the movie, including the Gapstow Bridge in Central Park, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This guide is designed to help you plan the perfect family holiday trip to New York City, filled with festive fun, practical tips, and must-see attractions for parents traveling with young children. 1. Choosing the Right Time to Visit The holiday season in New York City kicks off in late November, but the most magical time to visit is from early December to New Year's Eve. For a less crowded and more affordable experience, consider traveling in the first two weeks of December. We went the week of December 5th and found it to be a perfect time—smaller crowds and better flight deals compared to Thanksgiving or closer to Christmas. 2. Where to Stay in NYC with Kids For our trip, we opted for an Airbnb or VRBO rental instead of a hotel, giving us more space for our toddler to roam and the comforts of a home-like environment. When booking your stay, consider accommodations in Midtown Manhattan for easy access to holiday attractions. Pro tip: staying within walking distance of major sights makes exploring much easier with a stroller, avoiding the hassle of carrying a car seat for taxis or rideshares. 3. Must-See Holiday Attractions in NYC A Christmas trip to New York wouldn’t be complete without visiting these iconic spots: Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree : This centerpiece of NYC's holiday celebrations is a must-see. The tree lighting happens in late November, but it stays lit until early January. Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center : Glide under the stars and the famous Christmas tree. For fewer crowds, go early in the morning or later at night. Radio City Christmas Spectacular : Featuring the Rockettes, this holiday show at Radio City Music Hall is a must-do. Be sure to book tickets in advance ! Holiday Windows on Fifth Avenue : Take a stroll down Fifth Avenue to see the stunning window displays at stores like Saks, Macy’s, and Bergdorf Goodman. Bryant Park Winter Village : This European-style market features ice skating, unique holiday gifts, and festive treats. Or you can book a New York in One Day Guided Sightseeing Tour . Visit iconic landmarks like Rockefeller Center, 9/11 Memorial, and Central Park while traveling by bus and ferry. Enjoy insider commentary from a knowledgeable guide and breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and more. 4. Holiday Shopping in New York City NYC is a shopper’s paradise, especially during the holidays. Be sure to check out: Union Square Holiday Market : Filled with local artisans and unique gifts, it's perfect for finding handmade crafts, jewelry, and seasonal foods. Brookfield Place : For high-end shopping and a beautiful indoor winter garden, head to this upscale mall in Lower Manhattan. 5. Family-Friendly Dining in NYC NYC offers countless dining options, from casual bites to fine dining. Here are some festive spots that kids will enjoy too: Ellen's Stardust Diner : Near Broadway, this diner offers singing waitstaff and family-friendly dining, perfect for the holiday season. S'MAC (Sarita's Mac and Cheese) : A cozy spot offering gourmet mac and cheese that both kids and adults will love. Joe's Pizza : For a classic NYC pizza experience, visit Joe’s Pizza in Greenwich Village. It’s a no-frills, iconic spot that’s been serving slices since 1975. Levain Bakery : Don’t miss the oversized gooey cookies that Levain is famous for! 6. Getting Around NYC with Kids Navigating New York with a stroller takes some planning, but it’s definitely doable. Here are some tips: Walking : We found walking to be the easiest way to get around, especially with so many attractions close together in Midtown. Public Transportation : While the subway is convenient, not all stations are stroller-friendly, so plan your route and look for stations with elevators. Taxis and Rideshares : This wouldn't be my first choice with carseats but they are readily available. If you do need a car seat, request one ahead of time. 7. Extra Tips for a Smooth Holiday Trip Dress in Layers : NYC can get very cold in December, so pack warm layers, a good coat, gloves, and a hat. If you are a wuss in the cold like me, pack layers for sleeping. It is humid and cold and those radiators cause a lot of moisture in the buildings at night. Book in Advance : Popular attractions and restaurants fill up quickly, so make reservations early to avoid disappointment. Stay Flexible : The holiday season is busy, so be prepared for crowds and possible delays. A flexible itinerary will help you enjoy your trip more. Pack Essentials : Bring snacks, diapers, and a portable charger to keep your day running smoothly. Review guides . Get ideas by viewing guides for first timers with top activities around NYC. By following these tips, you’ll be well-prepared to experience the magic of Christmas in New York City with your family. Whether it's ice skating under the Rockefeller tree, browsing festive holiday markets, or indulging in some delicious food, NYC offers a magical holiday experience you’ll never forget. Happy travels and Merry Christmas!
- From Whines to Wins: 5 Strategies to Help Empower Kids Through Responsibility
Parenting often involves navigating the delicate balance between nurturing our children and fostering their independence. While it's natural to want to shield them from discomfort, teaching responsibility is a crucial step in their development. Recently, innovative parenting strategies have emerged, emphasizing the importance of empowering children to take charge of their actions and decisions. The Power of Empowerment Encouraging children to be responsible doesn't mean abandoning support; it means guiding them to make choices and understand consequences. For instance, when a child forgets their homework, instead of rushing it to school, allowing them to face the repercussions can instill a sense of accountability. This approach teaches problem-solving and resilience, essential skills for their future. Practical Strategies for Teaching Responsibility Set Clear Expectations: Clearly communicate responsibilities appropriate for your child's age, such as tidying up toys or completing homework. Natural Consequences: Allow children to experience the natural outcomes of their actions, like missing out on playtime if chores aren't done. Positive Reinforcement: Acknowledge and praise responsible behavior to reinforce its value. Model Responsibility: Demonstrate responsible behavior in your actions, as children often emulate adult behavior. Provide Choices: Offer options within set boundaries to give children a sense of control and decision-making experience. Embracing the Journey Teaching responsibility is a gradual process filled with learning opportunities for both parents and children. It's about guiding them to become self-reliant individuals capable of making informed decisions. By fostering an environment that values responsibility, we equip our children with the tools they need to navigate life's challenges confidently. Conclusion Empowering children through responsibility is a gift that keeps on giving. It builds their confidence, decision-making skills, and prepares them for the complexities of adulthood. As parents, our role is to support and guide them on this journey, celebrating their successes and learning from the setbacks together.

- Navigating (A.K.A. Surviving) Disneyland with Kids
Welcome to the Disney realm, where dreams come true, and parents inevitably lose their sh*t! As seasoned Disney enthusiasts and Magic Key holders, we've gathered some wisdom to make your family's journey a laugh-filled adventure. Below we share our tips for not just surviving Disneyland with kids but also having the best time. 1. Embrace the 'They Won't Remember, But I Will' Magic: Because nothing says parenting like holding onto memories your kids can't. But seriously, so many people will tell you to save your money for when they are older and can remember. However, your kids only believe in magic, like truly believe, for so long. Just think of it as a little extra magic for you! 2. Nap Time is Non-Negotiable: If your kid naps at home, then they should most definitely nap while you are on your Disney trip. We have learned this the hard way with our four year old son. That magical dream can turn into a parents nightmare real fast. Plus even Mickey naps (probably). So sneak in a midday siesta, and you'll be a superhero tackling parades and rides like a pro. More energy for you means you can save the screaming for the rides! 3. Bathroom Breaks are Not Optional: You know what else is not optional? The bathroom. Trust my experience, no ride is worth the parents version of splash mountain. Plan pit stops, and remember, you know your kids best. They will be so filled with excitement they wont remember to stop to pee. 4. Wear That Button Like a Badge of 'Survived Disney' Honor: Dont forget those celebratory buttons! Whether it is you or your kiddos first visit, birthday, or any special occasion. Each one is complimentary on your special day and can be found inside at City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park or at Guest Services in Disney California Adventure Park. They're like merit badges for surviving stroller traffic jams and mastering the art of wrangling lost Mickey ears. 5. Dine with Disney Royalty: Book that character dining experience! While there are character sightings in the park, the experience is different when they come to you. It is best to book a reservation in advanced. We pick based on the characters our kids are most into at that time. Below are some of the options. Even if you dont do character dining make sure you are stopping to eat throughout the day. Storytellers Cafe Location: Grand Californian Hotel Characters: Chip n' Dale, Pluto, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse Goofy's Kitchen Location: Disneyland Hotel Characters: Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto Plaza Inn Location: Main Street Disneyland Park (does require a park ticket/reservation) Characters: Minnie & Friends 6. Bippity Boppity Boutique: If it is in your budget, dont skip this experience. It does require a reservation which you can book in advanced but it is so magical to watch your little princess or prince transform before your eyes. That bonus tip I promised... Plan to get this done before the parade you want to attend. The Disney characters will LOVE saying hello to fellow royalty and it truly does make it that much more special. 7. Plan Your Day: Strategize your day. Hit the must-see attractions early, snack often, take breaks, and use your Genie+ planner wisely. You've got this! Disney with little ones: where every wrong turn is a potential adventure and every "Are we there yet?" is met with laughter. Enjoy the magical chaos! Looking to book your Disneyland trip? Visit Undercover Tourist for discount tickets. What are your Disney survival tips?
- Instagram's Algorithm: Why Shares Matter More Than Likes
In the ever-evolving world of Instagram, understanding how the platform's algorithm works is crucial for any content creator or brand looking to increase their reach. If you've been wondering how to increase reach on Instagram, you’re not alone. Here’s what I learned and how you can use this information to boost your own Instagram success. I recently watched an insightful video featuring Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, who shared some insider tips on how the algorithm works and what really drives reach on the platform. While many users focus on likes and comments, there’s one metric that’s becoming increasingly more important: shares per reach . But what exactly does this mean, and why should you care? Let's dive into the details. What are Shares Per Reach? Shares per reach refers to the percentage of people who see your content and then share it with others. For example, if 1,000 people see your post and 100 of them share it with their friends, your shares per reach would be 10%. This metric is a strong indicator of how much value your content provides, as it shows that your followers not only enjoyed it but felt compelled to share it with others. Understanding this can be a game-changer when trying to crack the code of the Instagram algorithm. Why Shares Matter More Than Likes If you're trying to figure out how to get views on Instagram, focusing on shares might be the answer. Likes have long been the go-to metric for measuring engagement on Instagram. However, they can be misleading. While likes show that someone enjoyed your content, they don’t necessarily indicate that the content was impactful or valuable enough to be shared. The Instagram algorithm has evolved to prioritize content that fosters community and connection. When your followers share your content, it tells Instagram that your post is valuable and worth spreading to a wider audience. This, in turn, can lead to increased visibility on the platform, as Instagram pushes your content to more users, both connected (followers) and unconnected (non-followers). How to Increase Shares Per Reach If you want to know how to crack the Instagram algorithm and make the most of your content, here are some strategies to increase your shares per reach: Create Shareable Content: Focus on producing content that resonates with your audience on a deeper level. Think about what would make someone say, "I need to share this with my friends!" Content that is informative, inspirational, or humorous often gets shared the most. This is key to learning how to increase reach on Instagram. Think Like Your Audience: Consider what you would want to share if you were your target audience. If your content doesn’t resonate with you, it’s unlikely to resonate with your followers. This perspective can help ensure that your content is truly shareable. Engage with Your Audience: Encourage your followers to share your content by adding a call to action. Simple prompts like “Tag a friend who needs to see this!” or “Share this with someone who loves [topic]!” can make a big difference in how your content spreads. Tell a Story: People love sharing content that tells a compelling story or evokes strong emotions. Whether it’s through a heartfelt caption, an inspiring video, or a funny meme, storytelling can significantly boost your shares. Focus on Community-Building: Content that sparks conversation and builds community is more likely to be shared. Consider creating content that encourages discussions, such as asking questions in your captions or creating polls in your Stories. Utilize Trending Topics: Tap into current trends and popular topics. Content that is timely and relevant is more likely to be shared, especially if it relates to something your audience is already talking about. Examples of Shareable Content Tutorials and How-To’s: Content that teaches your audience something new is highly shareable. For example, a step-by-step guide on how to plant basil could be something your followers would want to share with their gardening friends. Inspirational Quotes: Motivational quotes that resonate with your audience can inspire them to share with others who might need a little boost. Humor and Relatability: Funny and relatable content is prime for sharing. Think about memes or videos that make people laugh or say, “This is so me!” Conclusion: Start Prioritizing Shares As Instagram continues to evolve, it’s clear that the platform values content that brings people together. By focusing on creating shareable content, you can leverage the algorithm to increase your reach and engagement. Remember, while likes and comments are still important, shares per reach is the metric that can truly elevate your Instagram game. So next time you’re planning a post, ask yourself: “Is this something my followers would want to share?” By understanding and implementing these strategies, you'll be better equipped to navigate Instagram’s algorithm and connect with your audience in a more meaningful way. This approach will not only help you increase your reach on Instagram but also ensure that your content continues to resonate with both your current followers and potential new ones.

- How I Finally Started Making Money as an Amazon Affiliate
If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried sharing your Amazon affiliate links everywhere—on social media, your website, even to your friends and family. But let’s be real: unless you have a massive following and can post deals every ten minutes, it’s hard to make a significant income that way. I know there are websites and social media accounts dedicated solely to sharing Amazon deals, but that’s just not me. I believe we can be more than just one thing, remember. My brand isn’t just about product recommendations, and I didn’t want my social media to turn into a 24/7 Amazon promo channel. So, how did I finally start making money as an Amazon influencer? It wasn’t by constantly sending my followers affiliate links. I discovered a way to generate income that aligned with what I truly enjoy—creating content. The Turning Point: During one of the Amazon Prime Days, I was doing what I usually do: sharing a bundle of my favorite deals. But then I had a lightbulb moment—what if I uploaded some of the videos I’d already created to Amazon? It wasn’t something I’d given much thought to before, but I figured, why not? To my surprise, those videos started to generate income. I began seeing views, clicks, and conversions not just from the links I was sharing, but from the videos themselves. It turns out that Amazon customers were discovering my videos directly on the platform, and those views translated into sales. This wasn’t just a one-time fluke—over time, I realized that creating and uploading videos to Amazon could be a powerful income stream, without needing to bombard my audience with constant product links. How to Do It: Create High-Quality Videos: Your videos don’t have to be overly produced, but they should be clear, informative, and engaging. Think about what would catch your eye if you were shopping on Amazon. Focus on Value: People watch product videos because they want to know if the item is worth buying. Provide honest reviews, demonstrate the product in use, and highlight any unique features. Be Consistent: Like any content creation, consistency is key. Regularly uploading videos increases your chances of reaching a larger audience. Optimize for Amazon’s Search: Use keywords in your video titles and descriptions to help your content get discovered by people searching for specific products. Leverage Your Existing Content: If you’re already making videos for social media or other platforms, repurpose them for Amazon. Just make sure they meet Amazon’s guidelines. Track Your Progress: Amazon provides reporting tools that allow you to see how your videos are performing. Pay attention to which types of videos generate the most clicks and conversions, and adjust your strategy accordingly. Capture Everything: Start by filming everything you’ve ever purchased, even if you didn’t buy it on Amazon. As long as the product is available on the platform, you can feature it in your videos and start earning from your reviews! - Navigating (A.K.A. Surviving) Disneyland with Kids
Welcome to the Disney realm, where dreams come true, and parents inevitably lose their sh*t! As seasoned Disney enthusiasts and proud Magic Key holders, we've gathered a potion of wisdom to make your family's journey a laugh-filled adventure. Buckle up for a whimsical ride: 1.
